Allegra & Monkey
Allegra and Monkey are the young visionary couple owners. They had the vision to create something for the community. Originally they had though of building a lodge and cafe in Forks of Salmon but shifted focus after buying their small homestead in Cecilville in 2005. After the birth of their first son they realized if they wanted to stay here and raise a family they needed to invest some major energy to make Cecilville the place they wanted to live. When the previous owners of the down town passed away they decided that in order to make Cecilville the place the wanted to live and raise a family they needed to buy the downtown which was a dilapidated trailer park, the bar/store hadn't opened it's doors in a few seasons, and the entire property was covered in trash. After purchasing the property in 2012? they spent about a year cleaning it you. In which time they removed 14 trailers, and twenty six 40 yard containers of trash, turning a nightmare into a park like gem. Then they got to work on the infrastructure, a single wide trailer which had housed the store and kitchen had to be torn off the bar before it could undergo a complete remodel. They installed the gas station followed by the disc golf course, the first performance stage and remodeled and built several cabins.
Allegra was born and raised on the Salmon River. She is a woman of many facets, organic gardener, cook, natural builder, poet and artist of many mediums. Lately she spends most of her time raising she and Monkey's two young boys Phoenix and Zephyr. At 17 she constructed her first house out of cob, an ancient building technique which is a mixture of clay, sand and straw as her senior project in high school. She had a vision of creating a natural learning center, a place where workshops could be hosted, from natural building, to the arts, music, dance, natural medicine, homesteading and more. Nearly 20 years later this dream is being realized in the form of Cecilville. She is a natural with large groups of people due to her communal up bringing.
Monkey is a powerhouse of ideas. A man of extreme motivation and vision. He made his way West from his East Coast upbringing in search of a different a way to live. He spent a short time studying Forestry in college at Mesa State in Colorado before deciding that what he really wanted was to live in the forest. He then discovered the Salmon River where he has lived since 1996. After coming to this area he quickly became adept at many of the ways of life here on the river, from building fences to felling trees, milling lumber, building houses, tilling and planting a farm, putting and water systems or alternative power systems, to fighting fire, you name it he can do it. He brings a deep love of music, and years of concert going to the table. For years here has wanted to put on festivals, a place where people could listen to music in a natural setting. Now this dream he become a reality. He loves to work hard and play hard. He can be found either working on the property, dreaming up his next idea, or hanging out beside the river with his kids singing and playing guitar.
