Welcome
Cecilville is a great place to launch many outdoor adventures. Surrounded by national forests and wildernesses. It is situated on the South Fork of the Salmon River a wild and scenic River know for world famous kayaking and white water rafting. Nestled between the Russian, Trinity and Marble Mountain wilderness areas it boasts extremely diverse flora and fauna.
Originally inhabited by the native tribe called Konemihu, Cecilville was settled by miners in the late 1800's. The original town was a stage stop called Brownsville and was located on the flat which now holds the back nine of the Salmon River Disc Golf Course and the community farm. The flats and the opening up of the river canyon made this area a natural place to settle. In the mining days hay was grown here and horses and cattle we kept here.
The Bennet Resort was the original commercial venture on the property where the Salmon River Saloon now stands, opening in the 1960's, which became Snipes Villa in the late 1970's when Joe and Eileen Snipes bought the property which they operated until selling it to Jim and Leni Doyle who renamed it Doyle's Camp when the purchased it in 1997 and owned it until they passed away and Monkey and Allegra bought it in the spring of 2012.
The Salmon River Saloon, Cecilville Station and the Salmon River Disc Golf Course opened in 2014. Cecilville General Store, a kitchen and lodging are in the works.
